Studio Brief 2 starting point - From Form research

For Studio Brief 2, I have been set the task to work in a group of 9 and ask a specific designer 5 questions in order to interview them tomorrow through a Skype call. The designer duo that we got given was From Form.

In order to base our work off them and ask them 5 appropriate questions, we needed to thoroughly research into them and their work.

Research about their work (inspiration behind it, starting points, particular work etc):

-Interest in building worlds based on meticulous attention to detail
-Constantly explore different materials, textures, forms and processes; don’t have a particular way of working that they always stick to in every piece of work
-Quite playful, fun, interactive work!
-Combination of digital and analogue approaches for playful work
-I love the commercial that they did for 3LAB (its an online and television platform for young TV makers) they made it very experimental and displayed it as a scale model world

Image below of the 3LAB commercial process:

-Interest in the use of geometric shapes; abstract feel in a lot of their work
-Play around with the use of miniature objects within their work (in particular I like the series of images they created using miniatures for 'The Financial Agenda', a monthly organized event about the world of economics)

One of the images they created for ‘The Financial Agenda’

-The aesthetic of the set designs is fun, playful, colourful, vibrant, bold, weird/unique
-The films are short, snappy and clean cut

Possible questions:
-What types of places do you visit to gain inspiration for your style of work?
-Are there any specific places or people that inspire your work aesthetic?
-What inspired the colour scheme of the Financial Agenda work?
-How did you get into the theme of working with miniatures? Was it something you were interested in from the start or did something in particular inspire you?
