Presentation feedback

Today we presented our ideas for the Overlay Film Festival as a group to the rest of the class in order to gain some feedback on what worked well and how we could improve, as well as practicing our presentation skills. It was also useful to watch the other groups present as I got to see what didn't work well in other groups' work as well as being able to see what did work well so that I could generate some ideas for future presentations.

Throughout the presentation, we received a helpful amount of feedback:

  • When using other peoples work/sketches, make sure you credit them
  • Think about the background colours of the slides; some the background colours clashed with the colours of the images - We had slides different colours depending on which group member is going to talk about the slide (e.g. I had the blue slides) I agree to an extent, some of the colours could have been less bright.
  • The colour scheme works well (Red, Yellow, Orange)
  • Think carefully about the layout of the presentation, cant let the layout effect the work; needs to be presented so that the work is shown in the best way (scale, proportion etc) - I agree with this, images of final pieces could have been displayed larger instead of the same size as the rest.
  • Have music playing in the videos - Didn't want it to become too distracting, also was hard to find one sound to link all the movies as they were all so different
  • The video of the hand cut illustrations for each movie could of been filmed cleaner and more crisp; use a tripod - We purposely kept it rough and quick for a more playful effect
