Map Development

Me and Chapman have now started to develop the map designs further. The map displays all of 8 of the locations that the sculptures will be at, each location has its own square within the back of the map design with its name, location and short description which is helpful for the tourist.

The map will also still include a section in each location square which the tourist will be able to stamp once they have visited it- the stamps will be designed once the actual map design is finished so we know where to put them and what size they should be.

The map is square shaped which folds in which the 'Ey Up' on the front folds into a diamond within the square, we used this technique as it is much more exciting than a regular map fold, it is also collapsible and expandable which is useful for getting all the information and actual map diagram on the other side.

Additionally, each of the 8 location squares will have imagery of the location on along side the name, location and short description of the place. The use of an image for each location is necessary and useful as it allows the tourist to see what they place actually looks like, as well as making the map look funkier.

For the imagery, I used the two blues that we have used for the logo and other elements so that the designs are consistent throughout. The designs were created using photographs which were then edited using colour and threshold, the experimental imagery works well to create contrast with the minimal, sans serif typeface used (Quicksand)
