Lifes A Pitch Development

The developed concept for our exhibition focuses on the idea of a city canvas through sculptures that would be in a range of different locations around Leeds. The sculptures will display artwork by designers from Leeds within a template. This idea aims to promote tourism in Leeds whilst helping creatives gain exposure for their work. We decided to stick with the initial idea of the typographic sculptures which display the words 'Ey Up' as it relates to Leeds slang, making it snappy and playful.

We have started to create logo designs which will further developed, we then decided on a colour that worked best. The blue that we used for the final takes its inspiration from the blue in the Leeds United logo.

The typeface that we have used for the logo is 'Quicksand' because it is minimal, we used a minimal typeface as we wanted to show off the branding more instead. The rounded edges of the typeface allows a sense of play to be added to our branding, this creates a free flowing attachment between the letters.

Additionally, me and Chapman that we will work on the map design together. The map displays all of the locations that the sculptures will be at. We brainstormed some ideas of popular and creative locations in Leeds which could be used and then narrowed it down to 8 (even number) as we wanted the map to be square shaped. The maps will also include a section in which the tourist will be able to stamp once they have visited it

The locations:
-Briggate
-Leeds Docks
-Trinity Leeds
-LAU exhibition room
-Leeds town hall
-Victoria Leeds
-Corn Exchange
-Leeds train station

We gathered some research on map designs which we found interesting, we also researched into interesting ways of folding the map so it is more exciting.

Quick initial mockup design of a map

Additionally, we want to create a miniature mock up of the sculpture that we would be able to show in next weeks presentation. Showing the design physically allows everyone to see exactly what it'd look like, the mock up should it blank how it'd look without art work on, basically a template.

We have sent off a 3D print for this to be created out of white plastic in a 15cm x 15cm dimension.
